August 12, 2008 (Sully Release)

New Features/Enhancements:

  • New Calendar Events paragraph lets site editors display events from the University Event Calendar on their own sites.
  • Site Map paragraphs have a new option to display the Site Map as a flat, alphabetically ordered list.
  • New Bookmark link in template allows visitors to easily bookmark pages to a large variety of bookmark-sharing and social networking sites.
  • Added Intent and Outdent buttons to Rich Editor paragraph, allowing creation of nested lists in all browsers.

Bug Fixes:

  • Anchor dialog now displays correctly in Rich Editor paragraph.
  • Rich Editor templates are more consistent.

July 8, 2008 (Kodos Release)

New Features/Enhancements:

  • Department Directory paragraphs now use full department names.
  • Data in a Table paragraph can now be sorted by clicking on the appropriate column header.
  • Form Page emails now include a unique confirmation number.
  • "Modified By" column added to AdminCentral.
  • RSS feed items now include a date.

Bug Fixes:

  • The "Link" window of the Image Properties dialog should no longer remain open when one clicks "Save".
  • Site menus no longer "sticky", and vanish as soon as another menu appears.

June 10, 2008 (Kang Release)

New Features/Enhancements:

  • Gato will now automatically generate RSS feeds for specified pages.
  • Descriptions entered for files in the Document Management System will now be displayed by the Documents paragraph.

Bug Fixes:

  • Department Directory paragraph no longer includes retirees.
  • Application Porthole paragraphs can now have more of their display attributes adjusted with custom CSS.

 

May 13, 2008 (Hyde Release)

New Features/Enhancements:

  • "Adjust Thumbnails" button in image gallery allows one to select what portion of an image will be used as a thumbnail.
  • "Next" and "Previous" buttons now hang off the side of image gallery images so that they don't obstruct the images.
  • Linkchecker now alerts you if you accidentally link back to gato-edit.
  • Incomplete required fields in email forms will now be highlighted to make them easier for the site visitor to find.
  • One can further customize the look and feel of one's site with a new custom CSS page property. (This is an advanced-user-only feature. We don't support it, and it's quite possible to do horrible things to your site with it.)

Bug Fixes:

  • One can create paragraphs and submit forms with the latest version of Safari.
  • Banner images are again able to be updated.
  • Flash pieces on home page behave more predictably with older versions of Flash plugin.
  • Document paragraph now behaves correctly if you select an invidual file and specify a file type.
  • Specifying multiple form fields as "Sender's Name" or "Sender's Email" will no longer break the form.
  • Apostrophes in the file names of banner images no longer cause problems in Internet Explorer.
  • Link checker no longer throws errors where no problem actually exists.

April 15, 2008 (Hedorah Release)

New features/enhancements:

  • The banner images on a page can be linked to other web pages.
  • Email Form pages now include a paragraph that will allow form submitters to attach files.
  • The emails generated by Email Forms are now sent in HTML and are much more readable.
  • Rich Editor and Text and Image paragraphs now have a Full-Window editing mode.
  • The RSS paragraph will now accept a wider range of feeds, including those from Google news and Atom feeds.
  • The Document paragraph now displays more information on files, and formats that information more attractively.
  • The Rich Editor better reflects the style of the text on the page.
  • The Document paragraph now allows one to choose multiple document types to display.
  • Redirect pages no longer require the site editor to specify whether the links are internal or external.
  • The Share This Page: Email option no longer takes the user away from the current page, but opens the confirmation in a popup window.

Bug Fixes:

  • The Rich Editor is more robust when unusual HTML tags are included in a paragraph.
  • The RSS feed on the home page was broken in the last release. It is working again.
  • Menu headings are now usable even with Javascript disabled.

March 11, 2008 (Minya Release)

New Features/Enhancements:
  • We've added a new Document Management System, which will allow Word Documents, PDFs, etc. to be uploaded to a central location and linked to throughout a site.
  • A new RSS paragraph which will display the contents of an RSS feed is now available.
  • The link paragraph no longer requires you to specify whether the link is internal or external; Gato will sort that out for you.
  • The nightly Link Checker emails can now be sent to as many people as needed.
  • The Contact Information section of a page with a banner will now be included when printing that page.
  • We've added an attractive Home Screen icon for iPhones.
Bug Fixes:
  • Renaming or moving a page should no longer break the images on that page.
  • In an Editor paragraph, uploading a file with an apostrophe in the filename should no longer cause a problem.
  • We've included a variety of stability and performance improvements.

February 11, 2008 (Baragon Release)

  • The ability to change the color of the header in Gato sites has been removed per University Marketing's request.
  • The list of required fields is no longer included in the emails generated by forms.
  • Using apostrophes in banner images should no longer cause problems.
  • Inheritance of banner images through the site should now work more predictably.
  • Photo galleries should once again work correctly with Safari.
  • The Download paragraph now fully supports Microsoft Publisher (.PUB) files.
  • Including Flash elements in Rich Editor paragraphs should no longer cause problems with the site menus.

January 8, 2008 (Spiga Release)

New Features:
  • New Application Porthole paragraph allows one to show another webpage within yours. (Useful for giving other applications the Gato look and feel.)
  • The Text and Image paragraph type now allows a caption to be entered for its image.
Bug Fixes/Enhancements:
  • The Previous and Next buttons when viewing the photos in an image gallery are now always displayed to make it easier for visitors to move through the gallery.
  • Apostrophes now display correctly in Internet Explorer.
  • Selection paragraphs on Email Form pages now work correctly when marked as mandatory fields.
  • Having multiple paragraphs with similar names on the Email Form pages no longer causes issues.

December 11, 2007 (Manda Release)

Bug Fixes:
  • Special characters in the titles of pages should no longer cause formatting issues.
  • Link Checker no longer throws errors for URL types that it doesn't know how to check.
  • Better spam filtering on form pages.
  • HTML comments in Text & Image paragraphs will no longer cause problems.
  • Check boxes and radio buttons on Mail Form pages should now work correctly in Safari 3.

November 13, 2007 (Battra Release)

New features/enhancements in this release:
  • Nightly reports on broken links and other site issues.
  • Mail Forms more visually pleasing and usable.
  • Emails generated by mail forms now include CSV file, making it easier to import data from forms into Excel or database programs.
  • By marking fields as the sender's name and email address, one can have the From address on emails generated by a Mail Form set appropriately. One can also have the form results emailed to the submitter.
  • Flash within a Rich Editor paragraph is now working and supported.
  • FAQ Paragraph now has Tables and Source buttons available for FAQ Answers.
  • Sites now support navigation in alternative browsers better by using link tags.
  • Definition List tags are now styled.
Bug fixes:
  • The font size for FAQ paragraph questions has been reduced.
  • Menus render better when all menu items are hidden.
  • Certain templates in the Rich Editor no longer include bad links by default.
  • Download paragraphs should now show the file icon correctly in Internet Explorer.
  • Side navigation titles, various other text edit fields no longer labeled as "footer text" in their edit dialogs.
  • The "new" bar should reliably display below other content now.

September 11, 2007 (Orga Release)

When this release is published, the transition from the old University-wide template to the new one will be complete. The old template will no longer be available.

New features in this release:
  • The appearance of text in the Rich Editor will now much more closely match its appearance on a site page.
  • Editors now use their university-wide NetID to log into the system.
  • Source button now available for the Text and Image paragraph.
Bug fixes:
  • Printing Gato web pages work much better.
  • Site Search is once more available from Gato sites.
  • Page titles that are too long to be displayed on a single line will now wrap correctly.
  • Image borders now work correctly.
  • Long breadcrumb trails no longer overlap content.
  • Text and image paragraphs now stack correctly below one another.
  • An apostrophe in the label for a banner image will no longer cause display problems.
  • Link colors adjusted to make them more accessible.
