Link Functions in Gato

There are four types of links you can add using the Rich Text Editor:

Internal Page Links Internal page links allow you to link to a page in your Gato site.
External Page Links External page links allow you to link to websites and URL addresses outside of your Gato site.
Email Address LInks Email address links allow you to link to an email address.You can link to email addresses using the external page link function of the Rich Editor.
Document Links Document links allow you to link to an asset (file) uploaded to the Digital Asset Manager (DAM).

The internal link icon is highlighted on the Rich Editor. It appears as a chain link in front of a window icon.

Link to an Internal Page

  1. Add the text you wish to the page. Highlight the text you wish to become the link that users will click on
  2. Click the Link to Page icon
  3. Select the already existing page you wish to link to by clicking on it
  4. Click Choose

The external link icon is highlighted on the Rich Editor. It appears as a chain link icon.

Link to an External Page / Email Address

  1. Add the text you wish to the page. Highlight the text you wish to become the link that users will click on
  2. Click the Link icon.

External Page

  1. Select URL from the Link Type drop-down menu
  2. Enter the website address in the URL textbox
  3. Optionally you may wish that the link open on a new page or window when the users clicks it
    • Click the Target tab
    • Select New Window from the drop-down menu
  4. Click OK

Email Address Link

  1. After clicking the Link icon, change the Link Type drop-down to E-mail
  2. Enter an email address in the E-mail Address field
  3. Optionally you may enter a Message Subject and Message Body in the provided textboxes, to prepopulate these fields for the user.

The document link icon is highlighted on the Rich Editor. It appears as a chain link in front of an icon of a person.

Link to a Document

  1. Add the text you wish to the page.  Highlight the text you wish to become the link that users will click on
  2. Click the Link to DAM document icon
  3. Select an already existing document by clicking it, or you may choose to upload a new document by clicking Upload
  4. Click Choose once you've selected the file you wish to upload
